I have an HP Elite 7300 MT, product number XT247EA#ABD. It has a Pegatron Corporation 2AB5 motherboard and a Radeon HD 5400 graphics card. The graphics card is 1GB DDR3, which is really weak, I have a Gigabyte GT630 2GB DDR3, but after swapping cards, I found out my PC won't go past the boot screen. When I did some researching, I discovered that not all graphics cards are supported by this motherboard.

The other specifications of the computer are Intel Core i5 2500 and 8GB RAM.

My questions are two:

1. What modern (semi-modern) graphics card is compatible with this GPU?

2. Is there are list of graphics card supported by this motherboard that I can look at?

For clarification, I don't intend to to hardcore gaming as this PC isn't that new or anything, I just want to be able to play modern games on lowest and be able to get at least 30 FPS out of them. For example on another PC that had this Gigabyte GT630 2GB, I could play The Elder Scrolls Online with all settings on lowest except for Draw Distance on highest and it would give me around 30 FPS, which was fine, but with this HP Elite that I have right now and this Radeon HD 5400, I can still play ESO, but I have to lower my settings even more - reduce Sub-Sampling quality and reduce Draw Distance as well.

I'm just looking for a compatible GPU that will allow me to play the game like I used to, I'm not into eye candy so that should make thing easier I suppose.

Hi:

Below is the link to the quickspecs for your PC.

The supported graphics cards can be found on page 3.

You probably can find a used but tested and working Radeon HD 6570 on eBay, which is about equal to the GT 630.

The HD 6570 is 1 model series newer and is more powerful card than the HD 5450.

I'm surprised the GT 630 didn't work.

There aren't any modern graphics cards out there that I know of that will work on your model.

I do not own an Elite 7300, so I cannot verify that any of the cards listed in the official HP document actually work, but I would have to imagine they would.

Thanks for the info, this really clears things up a bit.

I asked at some PC repair shop about a week ago and explained the situation, they asked me will I settle if they get the GT 630 to work, I didn't say anything, maybe I should give this a go, if no, then try to find one that will work.

You're very welcome.

I have the HD 6570 in both of my HP 8200 Elite CMT's (also listed by HP as supported for that model series), and they work great.
