Planning to upgrade the 300w psu in my prebuilt 750-514 to a 750w so I can install a better graphics card (thinking 1660 ti), is this possible without frying the motherboard? I was researching the topic when I came across this comment
"Pre-built manufacturers (HP and Dell particularly) will very often swap a few of the pins around on the PSU headers for motherboard and CPU. If you change the motherboard or the PSU, you are putting yourself at a huge risk of frying one or both"
Which has made rethink upgrading until I get more info.
Is this something I should be concerned about with my particular model?
If not, can you recommend the best dimensions for a new psu that will fit in my case?

HP uses a standard ATX form. Dell does not, in all cases.
The stock PSU is 300W. add the GTX 1660ti (120W) and you get 420W. NVidiia has their specs on PSU. I have my own, and I would suggest that you get a Corsair 550W, like this semi-modular. It is an exact fit.

Thanks for the suggestion, I like the specs on the psu you linked and will probably end up getting that one.
Just to be clear, in regard to the motherboard in the 750-514, there should be no issue changing out the psu because HP uses a standard form board unlike Dell which uses a custom board, correct?
