Solved!

Possible gpu upgrades

HP Recommended

Hi,

I'm really new with all those pc stuff

I checked on google, and couldn't find anything ;

Would it be possible to upgrade the gpu (gtx 1060 6gb) of my current pc ?

And if yes, with what could I possibly upgrade it with ?

Also if I wanted to upgrade my ram, what should I go for ?

@Mkw_Kevin_K, I am sorry that I forgot to answer your question about the memory.  Here is the Motherboard Specifications page: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-gaming-desktop-pc-690-0000i/19769765/model/26367990...

If you look at the section titled "Memory upgrade informtion" it states that the maximum memory is 32 GB.  I suggest using CPU-Z to find the manufacturer and timings of the current memory: https://download.cnet.com/CPU-Z/3000-2086_4-10050423.html

This information is in the Tab titled "SPD".  It is not good to mix manufacturers' memory.  It isn't always compatible.  Here is the memory that is recommended by Crucial Memory: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/pavilion-690-0049nf

You may have to replace the existing memory if it is not compatible with Crucial's memory.  If you have further questions about their memory and compatibility with your current memory, you can contact their Tech Support for help.

Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

@Mkw_Kevin_K , welcome to the forum.

What is the Product Number of the computer? I need this information to review the specifications of it. Please don't furnish the Serial # or other personal information. You can find the Product Number at the bottom of the page when you open HP Support Assistant.  Once I have this information I will help you further.

bonjour

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Knowledge-Base/Power-Supply-Cross-Reference-for-specific-model...

donc en théorie vous pouvez installer une carte graphique qui n' a pas besoin de plus de 300w

Après c' est fonction de sa taille, pas d' autre choix il faut mesurer pour vérifier si cela rentre

Et bien entendu du budget !!

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-gaming-desktop-pc-690-0000i/19769765/model/26367990...

[edit] ça peut être long, mais vous pouvez cherchez ici

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-gaming-desktop-pc-690-0000i/19769765/product-info

en trouvant un modèle avec même carte mère et alim

Hello

waiting for @old_geekster to return

In the current configuration you are limited, the power supply is only 300w, then see if you have any additional pci connectors required for the chosen card.

The power supply is rather difficult to replace, maybe look at this:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Knowledge-Base/Power-Supply-Cross-Reference-for-specific-model...

so in theory you can install a graphics card that doesn't need more than 300w

After it is a function of its size, no other choice must be measured to check if it fits

And of course the budget !!

[edit] it can be long, but you can search here

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-gaming-desktop-pc-690-0000i/19769765/product-info

by finding a model with the same motherboard and power supply

Thank you for the additional information, @Mkw_Kevin_K!

You actually have the option of using a 500W power supply unit (PSU) L05757-800.  All of the PSU's listed in the Cross-Reference Guide for the 690 series with a Sunflower motherboard will work.  This PSU has a 6+2 PCIe power connector.  It will allow you to use the GTX 1660 video card: https://www.newegg.com/msi-geforce-gtx-1660-gtx-1660-ventus-xs-6g-oc/p/N82E16814137400?&quicklink=tr...
