Pavilion TP01-0050
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Pavilion TP01-0050 desktop runs Windows 10 hm 64bit. It has a Rother 8653 motherboard, i5-9400 processor, 12 GB DDR-4, 256 GB SSD, 1 TB HDD storage (all stock).

I have added a low-end graphics card (which is powered by the board directly) to add DVI a connection and  plan to match the 8gb stick to make the memory 16gb and add an additional HDD storage drive.

So, I think I am going to need to upgrade the power supply from 180w to 300w, but don't mind going higher.

The current power supply has two of the  fat square 4-pin connectors to power the board and there is also a skinny 7-pin going to the board (only three wires are used). Also, it would be cool if the new pwr sply could power the two HDDs directly, nut isn't a need.

I found these two for HP with Rother boards (L10875-800 & L64961-800), but my model isn't listed as one that they work with, so I don't know what to get.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, I don't mind altering the case a little if needed or using adapters.

Hi,

The following PSU upgrades should work with your MB and chassis:

HP PSU 400Watt
Part Number# L04618-800
HP PSU 500 Watt
Part Number# L05757-800

Both parts provide one six plus two pin PCIe connector for graphics cards.

They can be purchased at the HP Parts store (Link) when in stock. I believe these PSUs are 12 volt only. The SATA power conversion happens on the MB.

Power supply removal/replacement instructions (Link).

Thank you for the reply good sir. I do think the  L04618-800 would do just fine.

But since my graphics card is directly powered by the PCI port and doesn't require the 6-pin, I am wondering if there is another PSU that is an upgrade in power with the dual 4-pin 12 volts and the skinny little 7-pin that is cheaper than those HPs.

Also, am I wrong in thinking that I need the power upgrade at all? Again, I added that wimpy graphics card and will be adding an another HDD? Or is the stock one good enough?

Thanks again

Hi,

You're very welcome.

You don't need more power if the graphics card does not require a six or eight pin connection from the PSU. Adding a second HDD is fine.

I am not aware of a retail PSU that has the connections your motherboard requires. The MB and PSU you have are proprietary. They will not work in a different chassis without modifications. The chassis you have will not accept a different MB or PSU without modifications.
