HP Z238 Base Model Microtower Workstation

Hi,

I wanted to ask if I can put a GTX 1650 in my PC

My specs are:

i5-7500

8gb ddr4 dimm ram

1 TB HDD

256 gb SATA SSD

some other things like 4 USB ports, CD-ROM drive, audio, and mic ports.

280-watt PSU.

If not, is it possible to upgrade my PSU so that I can put a graphic card on my PC and not worry that my current PSU will die any second. Could you also suggest which GPU would be the most compatible with my i5-7500?

I have researched on the internet and most answers suggested that before putting a graphic card in a workstation, upgrade the PSU.

@dhruv_k_1307,

Unfortunately, there are no power supply upgrades available for your HP Z238 Microtower Workstation.

However, with a 280-watt power supply you can power a GTX 1650 4GB, GTX 1050 Ti 4GB, or the more expensive RTX A2000 6GB or 12GB, which are decent enough graphics cards.

The best processor that would be compatible with your Intel C236 chipset desktop would be an i7-7700.

Hope this was helpful.

The psu 12 v rail gives out only 192 watt so will a rx 550 or GT 1030 work?

@dhruv_k_1307,

Yes, an RX 550 has just a 50-watt TDP: AMD Radeon RX 550 Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database, and a GT 1030 has a 30-watt TDP: NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database.
