I have a Omen desktop tower (bought in the US) with a power supply labelled 100-240V. I have moved to Hong Kong where I am told the outlet voltage is 220V. However, the new power cord I have bought is labelled 250V (Mainland). Am I safe to plug the tower to my outlet with this setup or do I need something else?

Yes, you should be safe to plug in your OMEN desktop tower using the new power cord. And here’s why:

Key Considerations:

  1. Power Supply Label (100-240V)

    • The OMEN desktop's power supply supports a voltage range of 100V to 240V, meaning it can handle the 220V power in Hong Kong without any issue.
    • No voltage converter is needed.
  2. Power Cord Label (250V)

    • The "250V" marking on the power cord indicates the maximum voltage the cable is rated for, not the voltage it supplies.
    • Since Hong Kong's outlets provide 220V, this is well within the cord’s capacity.
  3. Hong Kong Power Standard

    • Hong Kong uses a Type G plug (same as the UK), with 220V and a frequency of 50Hz.
    • If the power cord fits the wall socket or is compatible with an adapter, it will work fine.

Final Answer:

Yes, it is safe to plug in the OMEN desktop with this setup.

🔹The 250V-rated power cord is perfectly fine for 220V power.
🔹The desktop’s PSU supports 100-240V, so it automatically adjusts.
🔹No additional step-down transformers or converters are needed.

Kind Regards,
