Power supply, graphics card and RAM upgrade

Hi! I'd like to use my HP Pavilion p6-2307a desktop as a back-up computer and need to do some upgrading on the PSU, Graphics card & memory (RAM). As built & received from new the PSU is internal ATX 300W, Memory is 8 GB
Speed: PC3-12800 MB/sec, Type: DDR3-1600 and graphics card will probably be a GeForce nVidia 1650GTX. 

Can anybody please give me some advice on these upgrades? Thanks.

Because your unit was released Dec 2012,  It is important to verify the Boot mode with this program.

The GT 620 card was released May 2012, and that is prior to UEFI.   So I need some clarification.

The GTX 1650 card can vary from 75 to 85+W, but it presents an issue.  Some manufacturers (like EVGA) build the card with the need for a 6pin PCIe power plug.   Other manufacturers do not create this problem.  So you need to pick a card for this discussion, and look at the requirements in wattage and if it needs the PCIe power plug.

Card needing power plug, a 450W, otherwise a 400W to help power the unit.

RAM: matching pairs of 8GB modules, PC3-12800 (DDR3-1600), designed for your model.

DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 • 1.35V • 512Meg x 64

Crucial has it listed as only 8GB total, so you can not use their site.  Bummer !!

G'day Wb2001, Thanks for your prompt and very easily understood communication.
I already have the GTX 1650 card as it came with my new Dell XPS 8930 (now upgraded to an RTX 2060 AMP). The GTX 1650 does not have a 6pin PCIe connection; it plugs straight into the main board only. Think you're right - now I have to look for a 400W PSU that is compatible. Suggestions welcome please.

Hello there,

No, because I have checked some sites where they independently review different hardware, and the power supply generally recommended was 350W to 450W, The reason was to upgrade and enable the PC to run comfortably below maximum operating temperatures etc. But, thanks for your input - always welcome:)

Yes, looking at your recommendations, I will go with the Corsair CX450M, from MWave (already a customer there).

As for the RAM - https://www.upgradeable.com.au/parts/UH2592#specifications 

They have the items in stock, but like Crucial the site does not allow selection of 16GB for the p6-2307a!! However I have emailed to them the specs I previously shared with you and see what they come back with??!!

MWave & Scorptec also have the correctly specced RAM in pairs so I think I'll be able to do a 'one stop shop' once Upgradeable.com.au get back to me.
