I want to put my Nvidia GeForce video card in to my Envy desktop and will need an upgrade to the power supply which is L08262-002.  Which power supply is compatible with this little project?

Hi @OrionLion,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To upgrade the power supply in your HP Envy desktop for accommodating the Nvidia GeForce video card, you'll need to consider a few key factors such as wattage, form factor, and connector compatibility. Here are some steps to guide you.

  • Determine Power Requirements: Check the power requirements of your Nvidia GeForce video card. Most mid-to-high-end cards require a power supply of at least 500W, but it can vary depending on the specific model.
  • Check Form Factor: Ensure the new power supply fits inside your HP Envy desktop case. Most desktops use standard ATX power supplies, but some HP Envy models might use proprietary form factors. Measure the dimensions of your current power supply to match them with the new one.
  • Connector Compatibility: Verify that the new power supply has the necessary connectors for your motherboard and video card. This typically includes the 24-pin motherboard connector, 4/8-pin CPU connector, and 6/8-pin PCIe connectors for the video card.

For compatibility, you can look at some well-known and reliable brands like Corsair, EVGA, and Seasonic.

Steps to Install the New Power Supply

  1. Power Down and Disconnect: Turn off your desktop and unplug all cables.
  2. Open the Case: Remove the side panel to access the internal components.
  3. Remove Old Power Supply: Disconnect all power cables from the motherboard, GPU, and other components. Unscrew and remove the old power supply.
  4. Install New Power Supply: Place the new power supply into the case and secure it with screws. Connect the 24-pin ATX cable to the motherboard, the 8-pin CPU cable, and the PCIe connectors to the GPU.
  5. Cable Management: Organize the cables to ensure proper airflow inside the case.
  6. Close the Case and Power On: Replace the side panel, reconnect all external cables, and power on your system.

By choosing a compatible and reliable power supply, you can ensure your Nvidia GeForce video card runs smoothly in your HP Envy desktop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I was looking for the part number.  Which HP power supply will fit the computer?  I understand that HP uses proprietary hardware in its computers.

@OrionLion,

Not sure if you got the answer you were looking for, but here you go: your HP ENVY Desktop TE01-3254 PC (319L6AA) as fitted with a Reno motherboard (SSID: 89B5), can be fitted with a 400-watt power supply with p/n: L04618-800 (which is equipped with one 6+2-pin PCIe power cable) and can, for example, power a smaller-sized (two fan) RTX 4060 model, or a 500-watt power supply with p/n: L05757-800 (which is equipped with one 6+2-pin and one 6-pin PCIe power cables) and can, for example, power a smaller-sized RTX 4060 Ti.

Kind Regards,
