HP Envy Desktop TE01-1244
Microsoft Windows 11

What is the max size power supply I can install into an HP Envy Desktop TE01-1244 ? I have a GEFORCE 1650 GTX graphics card I'd like to install but it requires a min 300 watt power supply. It is my understanding that the factory power supply for this desktop is 180 watts and I have heard that 180 watts is the max for the factory motherboard in this pc.

@roadkill37 , welcome to the Community.

The motherboard in your computer is HP proprietary. It has a 4-pin power connector instead of a standard 24-pin ATX power connector. You will have to buy any PSU upgrade from HP.  They have a 400W (L069242-800) and a 500W (L05757-800) PSU that could be compatible with your motherboard.  However, you will have to contact HP Customer Support to assure that the 500W PSU will work and that they have them in stock.  Here is a Chart that will show you where I got the information.  Your exact model is not listed, but all of the Baker motherboards have the same connectors.

Thank you for the reply. I do not see either one of these power supplies on the HP store website.I contacted a sales rep and they said they have nothing in their store. I cant believe it's even an issue. I've never had any problems upgrading a PSU on any of the Pavilions I've owned. Now Im pretty much out $700 I spent on this pc because I need to upgrade my graphics card that I have to play the games that I play and to do that I need a minimum 300 watts. Guess I should have went with another Pavilion.

@roadkill37,

@old_geekster's 500 watt (HP p/n: HP L05757-800) suggestion is available through HP: HP PartSurfer -at least in the US.

Granted, you would have to dish out an addition $133.27 (not counting tax + S/H), but it is an option.

You are welcome, @roadkill37!

Please see the post by @NonSequitur777.  He has added a link to HP PartSurfer.  You can try to order the 500W PSU by clicking the box under Add to Cart.

do you know if I purchase this power supply will it work with a GeForce 1650 GTX ? Id hate to dish out that kind of money and find out that it still won't work with my graphics card

@roadkill37, here are the Specifications from nVidia.  Look at the section titled "SPECS".  They state that the minimum is 300W to operate the 1650 properly.  Each manufacturer can set their own specifications for the card.  So, you should check the specifications of the manufacturer that you choose.

I do understand that much. That's why I'm looking for a psu upgrade. I was asking if you by chance knew if the wiring for the psu that you suggested will work with  the 1650 card. Sorry if I sound dumb I'm not a pc hardware expert lol

Hey, @roadkill37, there are no dumb questions in this Community.  As I always say, the only dumb question is the one you don't ask! 😉

As far as I know, the PSU should have all of the cables that you would need for the GTX 1650.

I appreciate all your help. Unfortunately the L05757-800 500 watt is to big for my pc chasis and even more unfortunate is the L069242-800 400 watt I do believe would fit but is not in stock according to Parts Finder. Looks like I just wasted a ton of money on this pc and a new graphics card. Like I said in a previous post I've never run into this problem with upgrading a power supply before.I've always just bought one from store and it always fit in all the Pavilions I have had so I was under the assumption they were all the same size and would fit any chasis.
