The power switch is flush with the front panel making it difficult to use. I usually just put the PC in sleep mode rather than shut down (Windows) so I don't have to fuss with the power switch. If I shut down the PC then I have to use my finger nail to depress the switch to turn the power back on. I am not sure why HP designed the front panel this way. Very frustrating

Hi @Baileyred1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the design of the power button on your HP PC.
We truly regret to hear about the inconvenience you've experienced. Our design teams aim to balance aesthetics, functionality, and durability when creating our systems, but we understand that the flush design of the power switch may pose usability challenges for some customers.
Your comments are valuable, and we will be sure to pass them along to the appropriate product development team for consideration in future models. In the meantime, continuing to use Sleep Mode as you’ve been doing is a practical workaround, and we appreciate your understanding.
Workarounds You Can Try
- Enable Wake-on-Keyboard or Wake-on-Mouse
- You can configure your PC to wake from sleep using a key press or mouse movement:
- Go to Device Manager → expand Keyboards or Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click your device → Properties → Power Management tab.
- Check “Allow this device to wake the computer.”
- You can configure your PC to wake from sleep using a key press or mouse movement:
- Use Scheduled Wake Timers
- You can set your PC to wake up at a specific time:
- Open Task Scheduler → Create a task → under Conditions, enable “Wake the computer to run this task.”
- Open Task Scheduler → Create a task → under Conditions, enable “Wake the computer to run this task.”
- You can set your PC to wake up at a specific time:
- External Power Button (USB or DIY)
- Some users install a USB-connected external power button or use a DIY extension that makes pressing easier.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
