Hello, please help. I have an HP OfficeJet 3830 printer that won’t turn on after changing the ink cartridge. An error message showed up on the printer, but I didn’t take a picture of it and instead unplugged it. After plugging in, it wouldn’t turn on. I do have a solid green light in the back and I have tried several outlets. I tried the steps provided saying to remove the cartridges, unplug all cords, hold power button in for 30 seconds then plug back in. It still won’t turn on! Now I’m stuck with new 63 ink. I can’t even find a new printer taking the same ink. Thank you for any advice.

Hi @cgk3,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I’m sorry you’re dealing with this—it's frustrating when something as simple as changing ink cartridges leads to a bigger problem. Let's see if we can get your HP OfficeJet 3830 up and running again.
- Did the error message on the printer specify what the problem was, such as a cartridge issue, hardware malfunction, or something else?
- Was the green light solid from the beginning, or did it appear only after the printer failed to turn on?
- Have you tried a different power cord or power source to ensure the issue isn’t with the connection?
Let's try these steps.
Check for Cartridge or Paper Jams
- Open the ink cartridge access door and remove the ink cartridges to see if anything is jammed.
- Check the printer for any paper stuck in the rollers or other internal areas that could prevent it from powering on properly.
Inspect the Power Supply
- Verify that the power supply is securely connected to both the printer and the wall outlet.
- If possible, test the printer with a different power cord or adapter (if available) to rule out a faulty power supply.
Look for Error Indicators or a Reset
- Check the back panel again for any signs of error codes or blinking lights.
- Some printers require a specific reset procedure if there’s a hardware malfunction—refer to the user manual for any specific instructions related to power or cartridge issues.
Perform a Partial Reset
- With the printer unplugged, hold the power button down for 60 seconds.
- This will reset some internal components, which may resolve the issue if there’s an electrical or firmware glitch.
You may also refer to this document for more information.
If none of these steps work, the printer may need repair or service.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
