ProDesk 405 G6 SFF
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I want to add a 3.5 inch hard disk drive in my ProDesk 405 G6 SFF but the HDD can't be fixed as its screw holes don't fit the according positions in the cage. It seems that an additional tray / caddy / bracket is needed, like shown here (for a 2.5 inch HDD):

I also could switch to a 2.5 inch HDD instead but the problem remains. HP support can't help here and doesn't know any part no. of a tray / caddy / bracket. Maybe anyone knows another stable solution to fix HDDs within the cage?

Thanks

@macpac59 -- the HDD can't be fixed as its screw holes don't fit the according positions in the cage.

Strange.

All 3.5-inch disk-drives have their screw-holes (both on the sides and on the bottom) in a "standard" location.

From the video, it seems like there are screws in the bottom of the cage, extending into the screw-holes in the bottom of the disk-drive.  Then, the cage fits into the tray.

Are you REPLACING the current disk-drive, or trying to ADD a disk-drive?

Try http://PartSurfer.HP.com and do a search for your model-number. All the parts in your computer should be listed. The big question is whether HP's warehouse has the correct drive-cage in inventory.

I'm trying to add a hard disk drive. My model has a 512 GB solid state drive directly mounted on the motherboard. I turned the hard disk drive to all possible direction but there are no fitting holes in the chassis.

I also looked up every HP PRODESK 405 G6 SMALL FORM FACTOR model with an included 3.5 inch hard disk drive in the HP PartSurfer. I searched a dozen models for a tray/caddy/bracket part but nothi8ng showed up, no pictures, always the same chassis no.

Any other ideas what to do or where to look?

In this video you can see what you are looking for, but I am not able to find it anywhere

If anyone finds it, leave it here please

Well, yours is the mini model. I'm looking for a solution for the small form factor model. Anyway, I hope they will start distributing these trays soon...
