I have an old compaq presario cq5000 series windows 7. If I am able to find all the rest of the components needed (power-cord and basics) will I (a) be able to upgrade it online to Windows 10 and (b) be able to hook it up to my laptop to increase the storage space and the processing speed for gaming. I don't really want to go buy a whole brand new setup. It doesn't even have to look pretty or anything like that. Like I said, I probably know the answer but a sure answer would be helpful. Thank you.

I could help you better if I know the exact model number, like CQ5320f as an example.
Stupid is not asking the question, but merrily going on your way into disaster.
Question (a) Can it survive the free upgrade. Those are absolute minimum specs. IMHO, 2.6+ GHz CPU and , 4GB RAM are needed. Anything lower, and it is pitifully slow. As for storage, add a second hard drive.
As to question ( b), the answer is "NO". It is not going to happen.

Well that is unfortunate. Thank you anyhow. Gaming Pc setups can be (and in my case are) pretty expensive. I thought the tower would act like a external drive, increasing the speed and storage. But again thank you.
