Yes. Most fast NVMe SSD's are M.2 Socket types with an M key connector so you must use a M.2 to PCIE X4 adapter card plugged into your white PCI X16 downshifted to X4 motherboard connector.
It will be a very fast SSD second drive. You can even install and run programs off of it.Your computer
will still initially boot up from the hard mechanical disk and use the installed windows system from the
hard disk.
For the majority of users this won't be worth the additional cost of a NVMe SSD as once loaded into
memory most programs run just as fast without a SSD. However if you work with video editing or any
significant database queries this will significantly speed things up.
As I stated earlier I successfully installed a NVMe M.2 in an EliteDesk G1 and it is working. Have benchmarked at about 4X the speed of a typical SATA ssd.
