Microsoft Support have tried, on several occasions to download and install Windows 10 Creators Upadte on my Desktop.
They are ble to download and start install - then after 2 hours I get a message that says:
Unable to install and your machine is reverting to origional system.
I understand there is a chance my PC is unable to install the new update - but I cannot find out yes or no.
Can anybody give me some advice on this matter.
Many thanks

Hi @Tiny-Donut,
Thank you for replying,
I appreciate your time and efforts,
As I understand you are using a retail version of Windows, I would suggest you can contact our HP phone support to order a set of recovery media, and using the recovery media you can reinstall the original Operating system shipped with the PC.
Once you have installed check if the PC works fine, If you wish you upgrade to Windows 10, HP does not recommend any upgrade using Retail copy. If you want you can contact Microsoft tech support for further assistance.
If you are already on Windows 10 then the creator’s update is important to ensure that the computer works correctly. Because it is not a regular windows update, but complete windows update that pretty much is like an Operating system re-installation which should not cause you to lose data usually. Please check the FAQs for Creators update by clicking here It gives you all the information about Windows 10.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help.

Hi @Tiny-Donut,
Thank you for posting on HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other experts, and other support personnel. For you to have the best experience on the HP Forums, you can also visit our HP Forums Guide for the First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
As I understand you are having issues installing Windows 10 creators update on your HP Desktop PC.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
What is the Original Operating system installed on the PC? Windows 7 or Windows 8
Have you created a set of recovery media for your PC?
Have you installed an OEM version or retail version of Windows 10?
If you have created a recovery media for your PC, I would suggest you reinstall the Original operating system that came with the PC and once done, it would go ahead and perform all the updates and at one point it would also give an option to upgrade to Windows 10, this is when it would go ahead and install the patch for the Creators update.
If you haven't created one, I would suggest you contact our HP phone support so that they can help you order a set of recovery media.
Please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process.
Step1. Open the link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter the product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - Click on Get phone number to obtain a case along with the phone number.
They will be happy to assist you immediately
I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes for further assistance.

Many thanks for your reply to my question.
I purchased my reconditioned PC from and Computer repair shop.
It had an illegal copy of Windows 7 so on day 1 I purchased, and had installed by Microsoft
Windows 8.5 - then updated to Windows 10, again done by Microsoft themselve via remote.
They then did the update 1607 when it came out, again by remote.
Severeal Microsft Techs have taken over my PC, made certain changes that they said
would solve any problems, but after EACH took 2 hours to download and install 1703
my screen read "System reverting to origional set-up" or words like that.
I have spent hours with them trying this and in the end one Tech. said he thought my
PC was unable to cope with the new update, and I should check with HP if that is the case.
He showed me a list of computers that systems and updates work on BUT mine was not on the list.
Unable to get through to HP to confirm if that is correct - that is why I have tried the forum.
Many thanks for any idea if my PC can take the 10703 update or not.
