Product: HP Pavilion Desktop 570-p017c
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Recently, I had purchased an Intel Pentium G4560 (Kabylake) 3.5 GHz Dual Core processor at the Micro Center store in Paterson. I know that it is compatible with my Pavilion 570-p017c and can be used to replace the ill-fated Core i5, which the culprit of all the random blackouts - or crashes - that my Pavilion 570 was having currently.

 

However, I found something really confusing: the Pentium processor has its very own heatsink with thermal paste pre-applied! I had no idea that I had paid $40.00 (true, because it was on sale over at Micro Center) to pay for a processor combo like that!

 

I know that the Pentium fits fine in the PC’s Lubin motherboard, but will it’s own heatsink eventually be supported on it?

If I understand your question, you want to use the original heatsink with the new CPU chip. This would be premised by the mounting of the original heatsink versus the heatsik on the new CPU ??  Right ??

Can you not use the original heatsink and the new CPU as a pair? Provided you clean and repaste !!
