I would like to upgrade my TouchSmart 600-1370 Desktop PC to either a:
- Intel Core i7 820QM Quad Core (C); or
- Intel Core i7 720QM Quad Core (C)
N.B. Currently have Intel Core i5 460M
According to the Intel website, these products have been discontinued. I cannot find them anywhere else. Is there a compatible processor upgrade available or should I be looking at purchasing a new PC?
I recently upgraded the RAM from a maximum of 4GB to 8GB with no problems whatever.

Thank you for replying,
I see that you have research on Amazon and found compatible processors available but for laptops and not for desktops. If you want to try you can try at your own discretion. HP does not recommend as this may not fit and it may not be compatible with All in one PCs. I would personally suggest you go ahead and purchase a new PC.
I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need any further assistance. I'll be more than glad to help you.

Hello Jeet,
Thanks so much for responding promptly and for the kind words about the introductory paragraph of my post. You are an valuable asset to this forum. Keep up the great work.
I have researched the following processor products on Amazon.com that are specifically for laptops (not desktops) but, are noteworthy because the all-in-one is a very compact desktop:
- Intel Core i7-820QM 1.73GHz Quad Core (specifications as follows):
• Type: CPU / Microprocessor
• Family: Intel Core i7 Mobile
• Processor number: i7-820QM
• Part number: BY80607002904AK
• Frequency (GHz): 1.733
• Socket type: Socket G1 (rPGA988A)
• Processor core: Clarksfield
• Number of cores: 4
• L3 cache size (MB): 8
• Thermal Design Power: 45 Watt
Comes with Thermal Paste
2. Intel CORE i7-820QM, QUAD CORE, 8M Cache, 1.73 GHz, PGA988
MXM Mobile PCI Express Module Graphics Cards are removable
graphics cards that are designed for gaming laptops or notebooks, All-
in-one PCs, mobile workstations, embedded systems and small form
factor PCs. My all-in-one has the mobile PCI express module.
Based on this, I was wondering if the above noted (mobile) processors
would be compatible with my all-in-one? A reviewer for the 2nd product
stated that the processor fits any laptop using the h55express chipset.
My all-in-one has:
Intel HM57 Express chipset
Processor socket: rPGA989
1 Mobile PCI Express Module (MXM 3.0) slot for graphics card
although, the frequency is 2.53 GHz (up to 2.8 GHz turbo)
