My Pc stopped turning on after it fell from my desk. When I press the power on it nothing happens. I believe the psu is the issue because when I unplug the psu cable from the power supply itself, it makes a small noise and does janky spinning momentarily. So I plan to buy a new psu. I have found some psu’s that look similar to the one in my tg01 desktop but not exactly the same. Does it matter which I buy? My original psu is a 310w gold and on ebay I have found various psu’s that are practically the same for around $70.

Hi @Akazi,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC is not turning on after changing the PSU (Power Supply Unit), there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
- Verify the power connections: Ensure that all power cables are properly connected to the PSU and the corresponding components inside the PC. Double-check the 24-pin motherboard power connector, the CPU power connector (usually 4 or 8 pins), and the power connectors for any graphics cards.
- Check the PSU switch: Make sure the power switch on the back of the PSU is turned on.
- Reset the CMOS: Locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard and remove it for a few seconds. Then, reinsert it and try powering on the PC again. This will reset the BIOS settings, which might resolve any compatibility issues with the new PSU.
- Test the PSU: If you have access to a multimeter or a PSU tester, you can verify if the new PSU is functioning correctly. Test the voltage outputs of the PSU to ensure they meet the expected values. Alternatively, you can try using a known-working PSU from another computer to see if it powers on your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop.
- Check for loose connections or damaged components: Carefully inspect all the connections inside the PC to ensure everything is secure. Look for any signs of physical damage to the motherboard, RAM, or other components.
- Verify PSU compatibility: Ensure that the new PSU is compatible with your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC. Check the wattage, form factor, and connectors required by your specific model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
