Hello, so recently I bought an HP Victus 15L gaming desktop. However the store I went to only had the one with a 350 w psu and the rx6400 gpu. Now beforehand I must say I’m relatively new to upgrading pc’s and don’t know much other than what I’ve researched and seen online. So I wanted to upgrade the gpu in my pc but quickly found out that I would need a psu with higher wattage and after found out about HP’s proprietary components and how you must have the proper parts in order for things to work. Not really knowing much about PC’s I was able to find a brand new PSU online that was meant for an HP elite desk. It was 500w and had all the correct cables and pins to fit into my HP victus, so I bought it. At a really decent price I might add. I also bought a better GPU. Now like I said im new to PC’s and upgrading them. So I didn’t know about how certain GPU’s need certain cables to connect to them. But I thought I might as well try my luck and order both parts and see if things work out. I found out that GPU’s need a PCIE cable in order to connect to them. The PSU I bought only had p4, p5, p3 and p1. However I noticed the p5 cable matched perfectly with the GPU I bought. They fit together and everything worked out fine. Nothing is over heating. It actually is working out great. But I was wondering if this can cause any problems later on? Even thought they fit together and the pc works fine along with the upgrades. I’m just curious if the way I had plugged everything in was incorrect and can lead to problems later on. Thank you for your time I appreciate it.

Take a look at the upgrade videos on the HP Victus 15 desktop at YouTube. They should provide you with plenty of options that will work.
