Hello, first to explain the situation I have a hp prodesk 800 g1 sff motherboard that I managed to put it in a hp prodesk 800 g1 Mt case, I wanted to buy a psu as an upgrade and I thought I should buy a hp psu to save me the head ache of getting a psu and an adapter that may or not work. I came across a psu with part number: 611483-001 online, the cables seem to match my old psu but I read online that it from the hp 8200 elite microtower and Idk if it's compatible with the motherboard? and if it would fit the case?

@Ilyazt,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Let's cut to the chase, so to speak.

And let's forget about any proprietary HP power supplies when you can actually use an ATX power adapter for your MT case, such as seen with this Amazon-US purchase option:

However, you can purchase one of these ATX power adapters online everywhere, such as via AliExpresshttps://www.aliexpress.com/item/3256803803735765.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.1.1a3e6c18Iibqr0&al...:

Please note that whatever ATX power adapter you buy, make sure that it specifically mentions the 800 G1 platform.

Since you got space inside your MT case, it will fit an ATX power supply, which you can use with this ATX power adapter. You should watch the ATX power supply's dimensions (LxWxH) for fit inside your case, though.

With a 500, 650, 750-watt ATX power supply, you can pretty much make any graphics card work in your case as long as it physically (LxWxH) fits in your case!

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

Hi, thanks for the information! I had actually considered getting one of these adapters, but they only seem to mention compatibility with EliteDesk 800 G1 computers. I’m not sure how different the EliteDesk 800g1 and Prodesk 800g1 models are, or if the adapter would even work on a ProDesk PC. From what I’ve seen online (at least as far as I’ve looked), everyone who uses this adapter has done so with an EliteDesk PC, not a ProDesk.

Since I’m illiterate about PSU compatibility, I decided to go with an HP PSU instead. Speaking of PSUs, I’ve also heard that the mounting holes on HP cases are unusual, so not every PSU will fit properly, even if the dimensions are correct. These concerns have made me cautious about choosing the right PSU for my setup.

@Ilyazt,

I assumed that you meant the EliteDesk 800 G1 SFF, since there is no ProDesk 800 G1 SFF.

Did you mean you installed an HP ProDesk 600 G1 SFF motherboard?

Regardless, it doesn't matter: it so happens that the same ATX adapters I referenced are also compatible with the HP ProDesk 600 G1 platforms:

Having personal experience with ATX power adapters for legacy HP computers, I would choose that over HP power supplies every day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

Kind Regards,
