I'm trying to upgrade my PSU in my hp omnidesk mo3 0000 and I'm wondering if the L57253-003 will fit and work correctly in there or wether I'll need to modify it

@Hazard96581,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

The HP L57253-003 is a 650-watt power supply, and I believe it is a promising upgrade candidate for your HP OmniDesk M03-0000.

Here is why.

An HP Support Agent (@Kuroi_Kenshi) recently addressed a similar question from an OmniDesk M03-0000i owner whose computer had the original 280-watt N97954-001 power supply.

The HP representative specifically identified two suitable 500-watt replacements:

  • DPS-500AB-32 (500 W)

  • L05757-800 (500 W)

The representative also confirmed that the OmniDesk uses a proprietary P2 motherboard power connector rather than a conventional ATX 24-pin connector.

The important connection here is that the L57253-003 (also identified as L36049-003, Delta DPS-650AB-30A) has the same seven-pin P2 connector type as the L05757-800.

This is encouraging because it suggests that the 650-watt unit should be electrically compatible with the OmniDesk motherboard, provided the P2 wiring and pinout match.

A 650-watt power supply will not force 650-watt into your computer. Your system will draw only the power it requires.

There are, however, two things I would verify before purchasing:

1. Physical dimensions:

The power supply must fit the OmniDesk chassis, including the mounting-hole arrangement. Check the dimensions of the L57253-003 against your original PSU.

2. P2 connector wiring:

Although the seven-pin connector is the same type, I would want to verify that the actual wire arrangement and pinout match. The connector's physical shape alone is not sufficient to establish electrical compatibility.

I would not recommend cutting, splicing, or modifying any PSU wiring.

For reference, HP's published specifications list 280-watt, 400-watt, and 500-watt power supply configurations for the M03-0000i series. The 650-watt L57253-003 is not explicitly listed as an approved configuration, so this would be a compatibility assessment rather than an HP-certified upgrade.

Could you provide the following information?

  1. Your computer's complete product number, which can be found on the identification label on the rear or bottom of the chassis.

  2. The model and HP part number printed on your existing power supply.

  3. A photograph of the existing PSU's P2 connector, showing the wires entering the connector.

With that information, we can compare the connections and establish whether the L57253-003 is a suitable drop-in replacement.

My initial assessment is that this is a very promising upgrade, and I see no reason to rule out the 650-watt unit simply because HP's published configuration tops out at 500-watt.

Kind Regards,
