I am new to upgrading computers and I want to upgrade my memory to 32GB from 16GBb but do not know which ones are compatible. I recently received a 16 GB (2x8) Corsair vengeance LPX with 3000MHz (CL15) and I am wondering if that one will work or if I have to buy another one. If the Corsair one is not compatible which ones are? Is there a list or does anyone have any recommended ones?
Also, when installing new RAM, what are the steps after inserting them?

@emmalouisec , welcome to the Community.
Here are the specifications for the memory in your computer:
Memory upgrade information
Dual channel (two DIMMs per channel) memory architecture
Four DDR4 UDIMM (288-pin) sockets
Supports PC4-25600 (DDR4-3200)
Supports 8 GB and 16 GB DDR4 UDIMMs
Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit systems
Note:32-bit systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory.
Supports up to 64 GB (unbuffered) with 16 GB DIMMs on 64-bit computers
Note:The listed maximum memory reflects the capability of the hardware. You can further limit the amount of memory used via the operating system.
Based on this information, I don't believe that your Corsair memory will be compatible with your motherboard. HP doesn't use Extreme Memory Profiles (XMP's) to overclock their memory. They use the JEDEC in the memory modules.

@Old_geekster Would something like this work?
Is there any way to look up the specifications for my current memory so that I know what I have to match?

Thank you for the additional information, @emmalouisec!
I don't believe the memory in your link will work. The specifications that I listed in my original post are for your current memory. You have 16 GB (2x8 GB) with those specifications.
I suggest you check Crucial Memory to see what they recommend. They have very high quality memory. Crucial is the retail division of Micron. They are one of three top memory manufacturers.
