Questions about this HP EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF w Intel Core i5-7500 @3.40GHz 8GB DDR4 RAM 128GB SS

https://www.ebay.com/itm/386173990418?hash=item59e9c37612%3Ag%3A1PQAAOSwEA1lIEj3&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAA...

I had the HP EliteDesk 800 G1 SFF Core i5.

Will the 2.5" SSD (1 Tb in size) fit in this G3 one?

Is the ram I had compatible with this G3  one?

Will the larger, 3.5", 1TB HD I also have fit in this G3 too - to be used as a backup drive?

Michael

Hi:

Yes, your 2.5" and 1 TB drives will fit but the DDR3L-1600 memory from the 800 G1 will not fit since the 800 G3 uses DDR4 memory which runs at a different voltage, has a different number of contact pins and the slot in the memory is cut in a different place than it is in a DDR3 memory chip.

You should ask the seller what type of 128 GB SSD the PC has.

It may be a NVMe SSD which is faster than the 2.5" SATA SSD you have.

You can refer to the service manual for the drive removal and installation procedures.

Look at chapter 4, page 32...for starts.

ok thanks, I can buy different memory for it.  I'm going to punch the button and purchase it.

One last question though, will the Display port connector work with my Display port hp monitor - it looks like it has that.

Well crap, it is out of stock now.

This one is about the same one, right?  Processor may be a tab bit slower, but will be fine on Linux.   I bought it.  Please do tell if my 2.5" ssd and 3.5" hd will still work in this one:

You're very welcome, Michael.

Yes, display port should work fine.

I have the Elitedesk 800 G3 Desktop Mini and use the display port to connect to my 22" TV I am using for a monitor with a display port to HDMI connector and both the video and audio out of the TV speakers works fine.

Yep, that PC you bought will also work just fine but it also uses DDR4 memory.

Thats the same processor my 800 G3 DM has, but mine is the i5-6500T 35W processor.

Love it.
