I currently have a i5-6500T im going to upgrade to a i7-7700 do i need to update my bios, if this is the case do i need to insall a new bios or just go into my bios menu and make sure its up to date, another question also would the pc post if it had the incorrect bios for the cpu.

Not knowing if you got the HP EliteDesk 800 G3 DM 35W or the 65W model (though I assume you got the 35W), I would strongly recommend going for an i7-7700T, which has a low 35-watt TDP, whereas the i7-7700 has a much higher 65-watt TDP.
If you got the 35W model, a 65-watt processor would almost certainly overheat your system.
You don't have to change/update your BIOS, and therefore you will not have to worry about a POST message either.
