Hello. I wanted to ask about some advice/suggestions regarding replacing some parts in my old OMEN 25l desktop.
First, I wanted to check compatibility for CPU's with the board (and other parts like a new GPU) , but I wasn't sure where to find that information.
Specs:
Board: HP AMD B450 87C3 (BIOS version: AMI F.32 3/31/2025)
CPU: AMD Ryzen™ 5 3600
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super (6gb)
RAM: HyperX DDR4-3200 XMP SDRAM (2x8gb)
Any suggestions are appreciated, especially with figuring out the compatibility with the board/bios and newer cpus.

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
According to HP's specs, your OMEN 25L Desktop - GT12-0240m (9NA81AV) as fitted with the Moria3 motherboard (SSID: 87C3), can be upgraded with the Ryzen 7 3700X or the Ryzen 9 3900.
It is not clear to me what the wattage is of your power supply, please check your PSU's label and let me know what you got.
I would recommend upgrading your RAM with 2x16GB. Looking at RAM performance scores here, the best performing RAM happens to be HP-branded Kingston RAM: 2x16GB Kingston HP32D4U8D8HC-16XR, but I will look to see if I can find non-HP branded RAM with similar performance.
Will get back to you.

All right, I would recommend this non-HP branded 2x16GB RAM kit: Crucial CT2K16G4DFRA32A, as seen here: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-3200MHz-PC4-25600-Downclockable-Compatible/dp/B08C4LXXCJ/ref=sr_1_3?c..., or this 2x16GB RAM kit: Crucial CP2K16G4DFRA32A, as seen here: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-3200MHz-PC4-25600-Downclockable-Compatible/dp/B0C29R9LNL/ref=sr_1_3?c....
And I would definitely recommend this very competitively priced ($420!) smaller-sized (dual fan) RTX 5060 Ti (180-watt TDP) model, which your 500-watt power supply can easily power: https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-GeForce-WINDFORCE-Graphics-GV-N506TWF2-8GD/dp/B0F5B891DJ/ref=sr_1_3?...!
This graphics card would give you a very meaningful graphics performance increase, and set you up for years to come: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-5060-Ti-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1660S-Super/4183vs4056.

Hello again, I actually did have another question. Regarding the GPU recommendation, I realized there is a 16gb version of the RTX 5060 Ti https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F5BBGCSZ/
Would this also work? It appears to have the same dimensions, but I do see it will likely require a power supply upgrade, needing 650w. Would you also have a suggestion for a power supply upgrade?

Upgrading your power supply is always a very good move. You should never go for a "budget" power supply.
I would suggest the Cooler Master MWE Gold 750 V2 Full Modular, as seen here: Amazon.com: Cooler Master MWE Gold 750 V2 Full Modular, 750W, 80+ Gold Efficiency, GPU Support RTX 4....
The dimensions of this Cooler Master 750-watt power supply are the same as for the HP-branded Cooler Master 500-watt power supply, which are: 150 x 140 x 86 mm / 5.51 x 5.91 x 3.39 inches (Width x Length x Height).
