HP Compaq 6000 Pro SFF
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I wanted to upgrade the RAM in my HP Compaq 6000 Pro SFF which currently has 4GB from 3 sticks (1GB, 2GB and 1GB)

I purchased Atech 8GB Kit consisting of 2 x 4GB DIMM DDR3 Desktop 10600 1333MHz 1333 240pin Ram Memory and tried to use these but they do not work - get 4 beeps.

When I put just the old ones back they work fine.

When I try one of the new 4GB Atech ones even that does not work.

The system is supposed to support upto 16GB RAM so I am not sure what is wrong.

I have used ATECH Ram before and they have worked fine in the past on other PCs

Hi:

That is a very hard model to find the right memory for.  You need low density memory.

I used both brands, which worked just fine.

Thanks for your quick response. How can identify if the RAM is low density or high density?

You're very welcome.

Usually the density is determined by the part number.

Sometimes you can tell the density by the number of black memory chips on the circuit board.

The lower density memory normally has more black chips.

Both of the memory links I posted are for low density memory modules.

You will notice that these memory modules have 8 chips on each side of the circuit board.

But the new Atech ones that I purchased also have 8 chips on each side (dual side) so these must also be low density

All I can say is those chips worked for me.

Why the ones you have don't work, that I cannot say.

But obviously they are not compatible.

Again...the 8000 Elite and 8100 Elite PC's are very hard to find the right memory for.

I was lucky.
