Can I upgrade the RAM in this computer with DDR4-3600Mhz memory?
my computer came with 3200MHz DDR4
and the System board is listed as 89B5 A (SMVB)
Another way to ask this is:
what is fastest memory that my system's board "89B5 A (SMVB)" supports?

The HP Reno motherboard (SSID: 89B5) was not designed for and is not compatible with DDR5 RAM memory. Its RAM slots are of the DDR4 configuration. Among the differences between the two RAM designs, is that DDR5 and DDR4 RAM sticks have different notches or key positions.
I am digressing, but then there are electrical and operational differences: DDR5 RAM operates at different voltages and has distinct operational standards compared to DDR4. Placing a DDR5 module in a DDR4 slot (if it were physically possible) could damage the components.
Reno motherboard and CPU Support: The motherboard's memory slots are designed to support specific DDR generations.
Similarly, CPUs have integrated memory controllers tailored for specific RAM types. Even if you could somehow fit DDR5 into a DDR4 slot (you can't, but just for the sake of argument), the motherboard and CPU wouldn't recognize or work with it.
Anyways, what I make of this comment is that the author likely must have jumped into a Rabbit Hole and is reporting from a different multiverse or must have been munching on magical mushrooms. Maybe both.
The Kingston Fury Beast DDR4 RAM looks awesome -go for it!

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
The fastest any RAM will ever run on an HP Pavilion TE01-3xxx system is 3200 MHz.
This is because your PC does not allow RAM overclocking, and Intel's DDR4 RAM speed limit for consumer PCs is set at 3200 MHz, such as for an i7-12700F under "Memory Types": Intel® Core™ i7-12700F Processor.
You can install 3600 MHz RAM, but it will do you no good as it will down throttle ("bridge") to 3200 MHz, and in some cases, 3600 MHz RAM will not work well in your system.

And one more thing: avoid so-called "gaming" RAM for your PC such as Corsair Vengeance or G.SKILL, as these RAM are prone to get stuck at their SPD or default RAM speed, such as 2133 MHz, and there is nothing you can do about it.
To offer you an example of an outstanding RAM kit that will work exceptionally well in your system is this affordable/quality 2x16GB dual rank (2Rx8) RAM kit purchase option via Amazon: Timetec 32GB KIT(2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz (or 2933MHz or 2666MHz) PC4-25600 Non-XMP CL22 1.2V Non-ECC Un....

Hi NonSequitur,
Thank you for the very helpful replies.
Since my original post I came across this tidbit via Google:
For a computer system using an 89B5 A (SMVB) motherboard, the fastest memory supported would be DDR5 memory at speeds around 6000 MT/s (with a CL30 timing) is considered the sweet spot.
What do you make of this comment?
I see in the link you provided that the i7-12700F supports "Up to DDR5 4800 MT/s", but does the 89B5 A (SMVB) motherboard actually support DDR5?
If the motherboard does support DDR5 then as I'm planning to put in 2x32, would you recommend taking the leap to DDR5?
Memory Express has this from Kingston:
FURY Beast 64GB DDR5 5200MHz CL40 Dual Channel Kit (2 x 32GB)

Alternatively, I would go with Kingston's
FURY Beast 64GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16 Dual Channel Kit (2 x 32GB)
https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00117509
Your advice is greatly appreciated,
Andrew

The link you provided for the 89B5 says RAM is limited to 32GB (2x16). I'm confused because I thought this computer could do 64GB (2x32). I have scoured HP's site and cannot find this detail. Is it possible that the link you provided is for an older version of 89B5 and that my computer which is an 89B5 with version: A (SMVB) now allows 64GB?
BTW I did find this https://www.memorystock.com/memory/HewlettPackardENVYTE013019.html where they say this computer is supposed to support 64GB.

Outstanding: you are correct! Your HP Envy TE01-3000i can indeed be fitted with 2x32GB RAM: HP ENVY TE01-3xxx | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com.

I see you gave me a third-party site also. Doesn't HP list specs for my computer? It is very frustrating to have to rely on a third party site for details on a PC built and sold by HP.
Thank you for your help

Well, HP's specs are often, well, incomplete.
You can generally trust bona fide secondary sources such as Crucial.
