I installed the top speed PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333) RAM in my p6803w with foxconn 2ab1 motherboard, but it runs at 1066 mhz (80%) PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066).   See: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02859378

  • Do I need a new CPU to use the full speed?
  • Is there a way to change the clock multipliers and such?
  • Is there newer bios to support this?

@DGPickett
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Where do I pick up bios updates for the p6803w foxconn 2ab1 usin linux?

HP Recommended

I went to a windows pc and downloaded one exe but the other just downloads the first, so I am trying to install the download manager.  How do I remove the updates from the exe file for install from a pen drive.

PS: Are you sure bios update allows ram to run faster?

After killing the install app as it tired to install hp bios into my dell, I did finally download both exe files.  How do I install them via pen drive?

HP Recommended

Both bios downloads seem to refer to some other mobo, not the foxconn 2ab1.  I have to reboot to double check, but it seems a miss!

After switching from Chrome to Firefox, I got my  Software and drivers for HP Pavilion p6803w Desktop PC, no BIOS updates, so why does the bios/motherboard run at the lower clock?  Will it change if I installer a faster CPU?
