HP 500B
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hello all, i have a HP 500B desktop (XP041EA#AB7) and i want to upgrade ram from 2gb to 4gb.

I've bought  a ram kvr13n9s6/2 (https://www.kingston.com/datasheets/kvr13n9s6_2.pdf ) which i think it fits my pc according to this https://support.hp.com/sg-en/product/hp-500b-microtower-pc/4191793/model/4191794/document/c02512295#... .

The problem is that when i place it on the dimm and i switch on my pc i get a short and long deep. Isn't compatible? Should i do something on BIOS? Something i missing?

Thank you in advance

@batikiotis,

What cross-reference did you use to verify this RAM module works with the HP 500B ?

The correct module is here.

@wb2001 thank you. you are just asking me or you say it is not compatible? If so what is the difference?

@batikiotis,

If your getting beep codes then the RAM is not compatible.  I was just asking how you selected that Kingston module.

@batikiotis,

OK, you need an explanation.

RAM modules are manufactured with specific component/chip compatibilites.

Let's say you walk into an auto parts store for an oil filter.  You only have 3 choices that fit, but you decide to walk up to the rack, and pick any the first filter you see.  Will it work......unlikely.:Surprise:

Or do you want the story of the three bears and the softest bed theme?

Do you finally get my point?

Dear wb2001, i will stick with the first paragraph of.your answer.
Although both of them are DDR3-10600 1333MHz Cas 9 unbufferred , they are not identical due to their chips
Thank you
