A RAM upgrade question here.

The Motherboard is listed as HP 8767 A (SMVB) and the factory installed RAM was 8GB SK Hynix PC4 3200 AA

I was unable to locate identical 8GB RAM in Thailand  so I have replaced the 8GB with Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3200 MHz C16 XMP 2.0

The HP website shows the board Supports RAM up to PC4-23400 (DDR4-2933).

The HP Support Assistant software shows that the current speed for the upgraded RAM I have installed is 2133MHz.

I have looked at the BIOS and there doesn't appear to be any way to select a different RAM profile.

Can you tell me if there is any way I can configure the system to meet the 2933Mhz RAM speed listed in the board specifications with this desktop model?

Thanks.

Hello
no sorry, it is only possible with some models

Either you stay like that, it probably doesn't make a big difference in general
either you take the risk of using third party software, dangerous, null, or impossible result
Read this, it's just for information, I can't tell you if it would be ok, for you:

Solved: I can't change the XMP profile - HP Support Community - 7939056

Solved: How to enable XMP profile in bios (if possible) - HP Support Community - 7730603

(edit] just for information

"The Motherboard is listed as HP 8767 A (SMVB) and the factory installed RAM was 8GB SK Hynix PC4 3200 AA "

Memory
8 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB)

It can happen, but no doubt it is certain and originally .?

I ask because the product page seems incorrect about it

Yes the pre-installed RAM is as described, read from the label.

The XTU discussed in one of the topics you linked to only seems to offer CPU and Caching tweaks rather than anything RAM related.

The PC was ordered direct from HP online in Thailand. It was an emergency purchase to replace a failing laptop.

  • I wanted 16GB and was told I couldn't get an 8GB upgrade from the factory.
  • I asked if they could include a second stick and I would install it myself. I was told this was not an option either.
  • I asked for the a contact for an HP vendor or service outlet where I might get a second stick and I was told to look it up online.

As I mentioned I was unable to find identical RAM so rather than mix two brands I bought a matching pair of PC4-23400 that mirrored the original albeit slightly faster.  I didn't think to look up the board specs believing that HP would obviously have installed the most appropriate RAM.

I was wrong on so many counts.

HP used to be such a reliable vendor. This experience has not been an entirely good one.

Anyway thanks for your reply. I don't consider it a 'Solution' however.

Like I told you, there is no , just one solution
Either you find the compatible module, identical to the original one, first solution
Either as explained in link provided that it works use suitable software, can be dangerous, impossible etc.
Either, left like this
it's up to you to choose the solution, but there is one indicated here
I recently saw a user, having the same type of problem that was fixed for him, after updating the bios
unfortunately this is currently possible with a certain OC version of motherboard, I doubt that will change for others
