Hi, I'm planning to install an RTX A2000 graphics card in an HP Elitedesk 800 G4 SFF. However, after reading this thread,
I have some concerns about its compatibility. As mentioned there, theoretically, everything should work, but it still failed to start up. However, I have a suspicion as to why it didn't work in the case described there. I stumbled upon a comment on an auction website where someone purchased a branded DELL version of this card and tried to install drivers directly from NVIDIA. The installer didn't detect the card until they installed drivers from the Dell website specifically for that card.
I have found a few interesting used options at reasonable prices from HP, DELL, and directly from NVIDIA. I'm wondering what to do. There's even a relatively recent YouTube video demonstrating the installation of this card in an HP 800 G4 SFF, and it worked.

Welcome to our HP Community Forum!
And just like I told the previous User, an RTX A2000 should work just fine -and just to be safe, with a 250-watt power supply as referenced. There is no reason an HP, Dell or any other branded RTX A2000 model should behave differently. To illustrate my point, in the UserBenchMark "HP System EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF" link: https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/HP-EliteDesk-800-G4-SFF/94299, there are no less than 18 User benchmarks for the RTX A2000 6GB, including the RTX A2000 12GB version.

Yes, an HP 250-watt power supply would comfortably power an RTX A2000 on your system. Since this graphics card sports a mere 70-watt TDP, you are A-OK: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/rtx-a2000.c3820.
