I purchased a new GPU and my monitor receives no HDMI signal after installation. The system does start (no beeping) and the GPU's fans spin. I'm worried it might be incompatible with my motherboard. Can anyone tell me if this GPU incompatible with my motherboard/BIOS? Any info would be much appreciated.

- supports UEFI
- 7.16 is the most recent version I've been able to find on the web https://www.wimsbios.com/biosupdates/hp/HP_H8-1214
- can't find any BIOS firmware on either HP or Gigabyte's websites
- New GPU: XFX Radeon RX 570
- PSU: EVGA 550W 80 Plus Bronze
- brand new, bought it for this new GPU

Hi Izzy19,
You're very welcome.
Three items to look at:
1. Power supply, you have a 550 watt part so you are good here.
2. Length and height of graphics card. Your MB and chassis should be good for a dual slot card at around 10.5 inches in length.
3. Legacy graphics card. I don't usually work with AMD graphics cards because they require more power.
But a Nvidia 600 series graphics card would work with your system.
It may be hard to find a new 600 series Nvidia part. For example, a Nvidia GTX 670 requires a 500 watt PSU with two six pin PCIe power connections. The 670 is 9.5 inches in length.

Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
BIOS version 7.16 does not support newer AMD or Nvidia graphics cards.
You need BIOS version 8.xx or higher.
HP is not providing additional BIOS updates beyond version 7.16.

Thank you for your reply. Is there a list of compatible GPUs for my BIOS version, or a way for me to tell whether a GPU will be compatible? I still want to upgrade my GPU but obviously I need to know whether it will work with my BIOS version. The only site I have been able to find is this, and I don't know if it is trustworthy or not: http://www.pc-specs.com/mobo/HP/HP_M3970AM-HP_(Angelica2)/2042/Compatible_GPUs

Hello
It is very difficult to confirm anything
All that we can give here, it is possibly some models installed on this motherboard!
So these are old graphics cards
For more recent, the best is to test with a pro, or possibly find an example on the net of graphics card installed on the same motherboard
For the indicated site, I already consulted it, but I did not find if the indicated models were tested, or if it is more a probability!
so you can search here paying attention to the model of the motherboard installed
