Hi 👋

still have some problems with this EliteDesk g4 SFF

I have 2x16 and 2x8 Gb DDr4 on ram , all at 2666 MHz .
it read only 40Go at 1866MHz .
I found a AMD SMBus update but it seems like i am not able to do it .
At this point i want to restart the ram setup with 4 same 16Gb 4x . I saw that the cl can be important for this pc (cl12 if my memory’s good)
This Pc cause me headaches; can’t upgrade the processor cause of an id …  the rams laggy ….
I need help with this project .
thanks

Hi @Jivi1

Firstly, you cannot use memory with a CL lower than 19 because this PC does not support XMP memory and does not have a BIOS that supports it.

According to the manual, that memory size combination is not indicated. See page 13

HP EliteDesk 705 G4 Desktop Business PC

As you can see, the memory speed depends on the processor and can be between 2133 and 2666. But my conclusion is that if you use a CL lower than 19, the frequency taken from the memory is the lowest JEDEC, which is why it has 1800.
