HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-2000a (2Z6E1AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I have an HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-2013nl with only 8gb ram, the mobo (Erica6) has 1 slot free so I wanted to upgrade to 2x8gb. Recently I bought another stick of RAM from crucial. I used their scanning tool to get the ram that I needed which is this: Crucial 8GB DDR4-3200 UDIMM | CT8G4DFRA32A | Crucial IT

Opened the case, done with the upgrade and the system shows only 8 out of 16 gb, same for bios. CPU-Z on the other hand shows 16gb.

I thought it was a compatibility issue and the RAMs had to be the exact same (the HP one has fewer NAND chips) so I ordered another exact one.

Same issue, so I started testing the rams, putting them in just 1 slot and booting the system. All of them work.

Problem is with the second ram slot the system doesn't boot with any ram.

I already had a problem with this unit and HP had to change the CPU. But the waiting times are quite long and I need it for work and my studies.

So I am here trying to understand if HP is limiting my system, which I don't think because this upgrade is ok with their user manual, or my motherboard is broken.

Any tests I may do to find out something?

Thanks a lot,

Roman.
