I have been having problems with FPS drops in game that have been significant. From 240 anywhere down to 10. Originally I thought it was just my graphics card so I bought a 4070 from Gigabyte and a new 850 Watt power supply into my Omen 25 L 2021. I have scanned for viruses, updated drivers and checked to see if my hard drive was working properly and everything seemed to be right. My task manager isn’t at high percentages either, so I don’t know what it could be or how I could fix it. I’ve had the same problem before and after my new parts I got and it happens on every game.

Hi @Leevi_M ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Dealing with random FPS drops can be frustrating, especially after upgrading key components in your system. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
Temperature Monitoring: Check the temperature of your CPU and GPU during gaming sessions. Overheating components can lead to performance drops. Use tools like MSI Afterburner or HWMonitor to monitor temperatures.
Driver Updates: Ensure that your graphics card drivers are up to date. Visit the official websites of NVIDIA or AMD to download and install the latest drivers for your GPU.
BIOS/UEFI Update: Check if there are any BIOS/UEFI updates available for your motherboard. Sometimes, these updates include improvements in system stability and compatibility.
Power Settings: Make sure your power settings in Windows are set to High Performance. Go to "Power Options" in the Control Panel and select the High-Performance plan.
Background Applications: Close unnecessary background applications, especially those consuming CPU and memory resources. You can use the Task Manager to identify and close such applications.
Windows Update: Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date. Windows updates often include performance and stability improvements.
Check for Malware: Run a thorough scan using a reputable antivirus or anti-malware program to ensure that your system is not infected.
RAM Issues: Check your RAM for issues. Run a memory diagnostic test to identify and fix any potential problems. You can do this by typing "Windows Memory Diagnostic" into the Start menu and following the on-screen instructions.
Disk Health: Use tools like CrystalDiskInfo to check the health of your hard drive or SSD. A failing storage device can cause performance issues.
Adjust In-Game Settings: Experiment with in-game graphics settings. Lowering some settings might help alleviate the FPS drops.
Check for Background Tasks: Some background tasks or scheduled processes may affect performance. Review scheduled tasks and make sure no resource-intensive tasks are running during your gaming sessions.
Disable Game Bar and DVR: In Windows 10, the Game Bar and Game DVR features can sometimes cause performance issues. Disable them in the Settings app under Gaming > Game Bar.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
