I had the same on my online workplace PC. I tried single dimm but may be both are at fault ?

Could you please post the model number of your HP system and the exact error you are seeing?

Yes First, Try with one memory stick. It's always the case. See if it's a laptop, there is a pattern of 3 blinking LEDs' in the keyboard. Then it's definitely RAM. You can lend it form you're another laptop or ask a friend to lend you a stick just so you can check if you have a single stick installed.
