I'm running Windows 10 PRO, 64 bit, (Microsoft free update from Windows 7) and was unable to update to the latest windows 10 Pro. I am trying to install a new Windows 10 pro but am being stopped by the lack of a driver for PCI Serial Port Driver. Any body know where I can find the required driver? please)

i suspect that you have the Intel AMT remote access feature enabled in the bios

 

when this is enabled you will have a com 3 device listed in the bios which is the "SOL" serial over lan driver

 

there is no compatable win 10 SOL driver for this HP model, so uninstall the intel AMT software (if installed) then enter the bios and reset the Intel AMT to defaults, and then disable the AMT which will also disable the com 3 

 

your windows 10 will no longer show the com 3 error
