I have an 8200 SFF with an i3-2100 CPU.
I've been thinking about getting a faster CPU, as well as increasing memory (currently 2x2Gb sticks).
It seems that there are different answers about which processors the 8200 SFF motherboard supports:
- The quick specs do not mention i7-2700 models (the highest is i7-2600).
- The quick specs do not mention multiplier unlocked processors (for example i7-2500K).
- Also in the quick specs there is no mention of support for low power consumption models CPU (for example i7-2600S) with SFF.

Welcome to our peer-to-peer HP Community Forum!
[EDIT:] The HP Compaq 8200 Elite SFF can be fitted with up to an i7-2700K, such as this User showed: HP Compaq 8200 Elite SFF PC Performance Results - UserBenchmark.
Hope this was helpful.

Thank you!
I was able to get suitable memory sticks, so the next step is to look for a faster CPU.
I noticed that the i7-2600K and i7-2700K include a slightly more powerful HD Graphics 3000 GPU.
The 8200 SFF models, which have a more powerful CPU (95W TDP), do they have the same heat sink as, for example, the i3 models (65W TDP)?

That is a really good question, but fortunately the LGA 1155 heatsink with p/n: 645326-001 "Processor heat sink assembly - For Small Form Factor PC":
As fitted in your HP Compaq 8200 Elite SFF, is capable/designed to handle 95-watt processors: "Thermal Design Power (TDP) 95 W" as per: Bluepoint - HP Compaq Elite 8200 Sff.
Having said this, in my own legacy upgrade adventures, I have experimented with different high capacity heatsinks. For your LGA 1155 socket, I would try this heatsink with p/n: 644724-001. They are inexpensive too via eBay. You'll need a 4-pin PWM splitter cable to power the additional heatsink cooling fan, which, by the way, is part of the solution to better cool a hotter-running processor: improving/increasing airflow.
Hope this was helpful.

I bought an i7-2600K processor and after installation I get six beeps, which according to the manual indicate a video error. The i7-2600K model includes HD Graphics 3000 GPU. Is it that the 8200 SFF doesn't support this CPU?
Bios version is J01 v02.28
Same problem here:

Well, no matter what has been said to the contrary, the i7-2600K and the i7-2700K are very much compatible with the HP Compaq 8200 Elite SFF PC, such as these real-life User examples prove:
i7-2600K: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/49022862, with BIOS Date 20111110:
i7-2700K: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/52273061, with BIOS Date 20111110:
You can find many more of these incompatible (😜) processors at work here: UserBenchmark: HP Compaq 8200 Elite SFF PC Compatible Components.
Let's check a couple of things.
1.) Your desktop should have a 240-watt power supply with p/n: 613762-001 or 613763-001 -please verify.
2.) Make sure that your integrated graphics is not disabled in your BIOS settings.
3.) [EDIT:] Download/install the latest BIOS version: J01 - 00.02.33 Rev.A, May 1, 2019:
Link: HP Compaq 8200 Elite Small Form Factor PC Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support.
4.) Try out a(ny) low-power discrete graphics card in your desktop and see if that will work.

I changed back to the original i3-2100 and the computer started normally.
1) I checked the PSU which was the model you mentioned 613762-001.
2) I updated the BIOS to the latest version J01 - 00.02.33 Rev.A. After that, I tried changing the i7-2600K CPU again. And again I get six beeps.
EDIT: I also removed the CMOS battery and pressed the reset button.
Unfortunately, I don't have an external graphics card to try. The original idea was to use the internal graphic card.
In the link you posted where 2600K and 2700K cpu are used, it doesn't say what the bios version number is? Only the date. By using Coreboot, it might even be possible to use an Ivy Bridge series CPU.

Your i7-2600K should work just fine even with less recent BIOS, but it was one thing to try.
Assuming your i7-2600K is not defective, let's try the following steps.
You said you wanted to increase your RAM (currently at 2 x 2GB) -I couldn't agree more! Only having 4GB of total RAM could be an issue in my opinion. Your desktop can be fitted with up to 4 x 8GB of DDR3 PC3-12800, 1600 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, DIMM (UDIMM), 240-pin RAM sticks. Your desktop will throttle it down to 1333 MHz. Anyways, I would either recommend 2 x 8GB RAM sticks or 4 x 4GB RAM sticks -at a minimum. You should be able to get this RAM inexpensively.
Take another -close- look at your i7-2600K and the LGA1155 processor slot. Make sure there is no debris (e.g. thermal grease), burn marks or bend pins and such. Use a magnifying glass to observe.

I forgot to tell you that I got 4x4Gb Hynex memories, which even have HP stickers. I installed them before changing the CPU. I'll try next removing the Ram sticks and putting in just one stick and see if I get the same error.
