Greetings,

I have upgraded my HP 7300 with MSI R9 270x few years back along with PSU change.

And that's all on 7.07 bios, and since R9 200 series are slightly polished older 7XXX series, they ought  to work also. Recently I have bought a  Sapphire nitro+ RX 480 which does not seem to work, although there are no audible beeps when that card is inserted. Looking at other forum post, and people experiences on other sites  one can conclude that  RX 4XX series are supposedly able to run on Pegatron 2AB5 motherboards included in HP 7300, but apparently Sapphire does not support dual BIOS in their cards.

My question is as follows: is there an actual official list of supported graphics cards or one has to play the guessing game? Not going to lie, an unofficial list of hardware that was actually put to the test by community of some sort would be even greater.

Hi:

Below is the link to the Elite 7300 specs, which lists the officially supported graphics cards.

As expected the official list somewhat lacking. Isn't there anything better than just buying gradually older cards until one of them works and hoping one can send back those previously bought?

You asked for the official list of graphics cards supported by HP, and I gave it to you.

Search the forum.  See if there is some other info you can find regarding graphics cards in the 7300 Elite model series.

I don't see why a Nvidia GT 6xx graphics card wouldn't work.  That is a legacy card, and probably the best you can do.

Upgrades like this are often trial and error.  It is what it is.

The GT 7xx and newer cards will not work on BIOS's older than rev 8.xx.
