I have a problem with frequent reading from an empty drive, this happens every 10-15 minutes and is quite annoying, for this time the system will be paused for several seconds, can it be turned off, do not want to remove the CD-ROM but also

Regardless of the mentioning or laptop vs desktop, and OS version, the merits of the reply are valid.

There are 2 solutions:

1) manually disable the drive via Device Manager until you want it.

2) Install a power switch (ON/OFF) or power switching device for the DVD drive.

Your link no help me in nothing after read. I have PC ( HP Compaq 8200 Elite MT no laptop and my system is Win 10 no 8.  I no want uninnstal drivers or off cd-rom in devices menager in system.

 

 

I have one more problem, in time starting BIOS is only black screen and must enter by (remember) ESC ( boot menu) and after this open BIOS. About 1 on 50 starts PC is screen of starting BIOS but only by 1 second.
