Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

So I just got this desktop second hand without a hard drive so I put a new one in reloaded windows with the cd key on the side of the tower and when I booted the system up I noticed six devices without drivers.

List

Blutooth Controller

Ethernet Controller

Network Controller

PCI Simple Communications Controller

SM Bus Controller

Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller

All listed so I jumped on the HP site and loaded up the drivers from the website well thats when things went from bad to worse. I manage to get everything but the SM Buss and PCI Simple Comm drivers from the hp site I managed to find the rest of them without too much trouble and had everything working.

Then I go to hit windows update and just a flood of errors none of which come into play until AFTER i install the drivers. I even went to the length of buying a NEW copy of windows 7 just to play it safe because I didn't know the state of the serial on the side of the case and even though it said it was active I figured what the heck maybe thats the issue.

I ran SFC it found no issues with the install I used a number of microsoft tools to try and fix it I managed to get up to SP1 before my windows update would just hang on updates. Again I am guessing its the drivers because none of this starts until after I install drivers. Anyone have any ideas on this one?

Finally solved the issue after installing SP1 I just let it check for updates over night and this morning about 10 hours later it found updates and has been working without issue.
