I recently purchased a few Z400 Workstations in an Auction and am looking to rebuild them for my own Animation workstation. They are a few years old and have had the hard drives removed, otherwise they were working fine, both have Nvidia Quadro Video Cards. Would installing a new hard drive and OS be a good start? This will be my first major project.

@Vonglitterhorn,

There are several problems. Here are the original specs (Vista OS)

1) NO drivers for WIN 10.

2) No modern graphic cards, as the Z400's were produced in 2010.

3) The last OS installed was WIN7.

Is there any hope for me to be able to turn these into a workstation for myself? Or did I buy myself a few oversized paperweights?

Are you still in the project?

These computers are not so bad, even for gaming. They were well conceived and have the ability to run what you want, no problem with W10 for example, except for me the way to prepare the correct USB for installation.

My son is a great fan of the Z400: he does not know the technical parameters, he just use them for gaming and he his more than happy with the 2 samples (one in his mother house, one at my home).
