HP Z800 Base Model Workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have an HP-Z840 with an Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2643 v3 @ 3.40GHz 3.40 GHz (2 processors) and 96 GB of installed RAM.  I'm currently using a NVIDIA M4000 graphics card.  The system runs slow when attempting to use the generative AI features in Adobe Photoshop.  Can I improve the system's performance by upgrading the graphics card?

If so, can you recommend upgrading the graphics card?  Also are there any technical challenges I may encounter while upgrading the system?

Thanks.

@Wareham,

The answer to your question is mainly a question of your budget: this link suggests a Nvidia 40xx series graphics card, and I would recommend at least the RTX 4060 or RTX 4060 Ti. Powering any of these cards should not be difficult, as your Workstation is fitted with either an 850-watt, 1125-watt, or a 1275-watt power supply, except you'll need to use 6-pin to 8-pin PCIe power adapter cable(s) to power an RTX 40xx card. Please use HP part number 460621-002, as this adapter cable has been specifically made for your PC.  This cable can be purchased online, such as via this trusted eBay Seller: GPU POWER ADAPTER FEMALE 6 PIN TO MALE 8 PIN POWER CABLE for HP 460621-002 20cm | eBay.

Good morning and thank u very much.  Budget is always an issue.  However, I spend a great deal of time processing images and the added speed can help a bunch.  Imagesbyjohnwiliszowski.zenfolio.com.

Again, thanks for your time and the benefit of your knowledge. I really appreciate it.
