Reinstall windows

Hello,

recently we had to replace the hard drive in the laptop. Now I have to reinstall windows but I can’t find my product key. What can I do to solve the problem.

Hi:

The Windows product key is encrypted in your notebook's BIOS.

You don't need the key to reinstall Windows.

Your PC should be one of the product numbers listed at the link below.

After you determine which product number your PC has, you have the option of using the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.

Since you have to use the utility on another PC, you will need to enter your notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.
