My BIOS recognized for my HP EliteDesk 800 G5 stationär mini-PC is of the same version as the BIOS I can download, but the date seems to differ. Detected is:
BIOS-namn R21 Ver. 02.04.02
BIOS-försäljare HP
SMBIOS-verison R21 Ver. 02.04.02
BIOS-datum 2019-12-27
I had some virus, now removed, but Maybe they could have messed upo the BIOS in some way. So I plan to reinstall the bios from the support site where the releasedate differs. Can I expect problems doing that?
Version:
02.04.02 Rev.A
Operativsystem:
Windows 10, version 1903 (64-bitars)
Releasedatum:
20 jan 2020

Hi
I cannot comment on how a BIOS update will go...
However you probably already have this....
https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/hp-elitedesk-800-g5-desktop-mini-pc/27066639/manuals
https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-elitedesk-800-g5-desktop-mini-pc/27066639
I would take all precautions, like Backups and Recovery Media and familiarise myself with these...
Hopefully one of these documents will cover (and solve) your problem...

Thanks! I read all the links before, but the one creating a Flashdrive is most useful.
I called a support assistant and he said that even if the BIOS were excately the same it might still be a very emall chance of failure. But he told me that when I intended to reinstall the BIOS I could call him and he could guide me.
Anyway, I have all my documents, software installing files, licens keys etc on an external drive. I have already once had to completely reinstall from scratch, but the problem is that it takes days to install all software from the external drive
After shutting down the computer, I often get a message on the left top of a black dcreen that "the computer wwas not properly closed down", but then it checks something and starts up properly.
Also I often get a blue screen when I access some USB object; some times a drive, my iPhone or my external soundcard.
If I get any startup problems I always have to remove all usb connections. Except for the keyboard and mouse from Logitecfh using the Unifying connetor.
Thanks for the links!

Hi
With windows 10 the usual practice is to put the Hard Disk into suspend mode for a quicker/faster boot.
This is not a clean shutdown, the more technical description is that it sets the dirty bit.

and I may be completely wrong about your circumstances.

About the previous matter of updating BIOS, there was no problems at all.
You are right about the dirty bit, the symptoms are exactly as described. But I can't figure out how this dirty bit is set. OK, you can remove it, but it will occure again. There is always a reason for everything... The shutdown script seems to be a good solution. I use scripts very often to run things, cleaning up, updating, open and close the internet connection etc.
I'll try the shutdown script and let you know.
