Hi,
I used to use CTRL + Shift _+F9 to remove field codes in Word. Now I have a new keyboard, which came with the desktop and windows 11. HP Paviliion Desktop PC TP01-2000a (2Z6C8AV).
Now F9 brings up the windows search box. If i press Fn and then f9 it does not bring up the search box. But CTRL+SHIFT+Fn+F9 does not remove field codes
Note - there are no easy options on menus in Word for removing field codes. The only way has been with this series of buttons. Other than that starting in a new document by copy and paste - but then I loose all my formats. So I would like to use a key.
I have put this in HP as I think the problem is with the HP keyboard - not Word
How do I get my keyboard set back to normal f9 use? Where can I find settings to do this?

So on my keyboard Alt + F9 opens up the windows search box.
There is a magnifying glass on F9
However Alt+Fn +F9 does seem to work to toggle codes in Word. So pressing Fn seems to stop the extra function.
The things I really want is to find a way to do Ctrl+ Shift +F9 which REMOVES all field codes (references, headings, contents). Sorry if I said turn off before. I don't want to toggle, I want to remove the codes and just leave the text.
I tried adding in Fn as well but Crtl + Shift + Fn +F9 does not work to remove field codes.
So does anyone know of another set of buttons? How do I find out what they do? Is there a list?
If I have to I will just load it up on my old PC keyboard which doesn't have so many pictures on the Function keys.

Using the Fn key does not work. None of those suggestions work, even if everything is selected first. The F9 button is messed up.
I have found a different solution.
I've always thought it a bit weird that there would be a short cut to do something - but that that something is not on any of the word menus. So that made me think it must be on a hidden list.
"Unlink field codes" is not on the normal menu but I eventualy found it in the list of All comands for a custom ribbon and was able to add it to the ribbon tabs. Now I don' t need to use the shortcut keys.
Thanks
