I have an older model computer (HP 19) and the computer won't turn on without the cord connected to it.  Is there a way that I could change the power outlet to have it still function without the power outlet connected to it.  The computer is an All-In-One Desktop PC.  Also, how do I  know the specs to change it, as it is a repair project pc, to make the appropriate changes so that the power component, wireless connection, and cache speed to improve?

Thank you for the additional information, @emanueljoia!

Q:  The objective here is to change the network card, hard drive for speed, and find out how I can repair a small glitch that I have with highlighting selected words and phrases, as at times the selection skips a few words or a few letter between the area selection.

A:  You will want a PCI express half-length mini card wifi adapter that is dual band (AC) 2.4 GHz/5.0 GHz.  The current wifi adapter only has one antenna.

Here is an adapter that you might want to consider.  I believe that it should work for you.  You can contact the manufacturer to see if they have antennas available.

There is no M.2 socket on the motherboard.  Your best option is to find a SSD that can replace the HDD.  Here is the Upgrading and Servicing Guide.  There is a section on replacing the HDD.  I suggest that you choose a SSD that you like and contact the manufacturer's Tech Support to assure that it will work.  I like Samsung SSD's because that seem to work best with HP BIOS.  I will never have another computer without a SSD boot drive.  The speed is amazing.

The skipping words when highlighting is normally a problem within an app.  The best way to solve this problem is to assure the apps are updated regularly.  Also, you can go to the developer's website to see if there are complains about the problem.

@emanueljoia , welcome to the forum.

What is the full model of the computer? I need this information to review the specifications of it. Please don't furnish the Serial # or other personal information.  Here is a guide to help you find the model.

If you are talking about the power cord, this has to be connected for the computer to run.  The All-In-One computers are not like laptops that run on batteries.  I will get you the specs of the computer when I have the model number.

Old_geekster,

The computer is a HP 19 and I believe it was released  January 4, 2014.  The model number is 19-2114.

Thank you for the response.

@Old_geekster I was really trying to focus on staying with SATA but you provided me with enough computer power to really this bad boy working like a new one.  After all, the only difference is the monitor really, all of the other required components to have this computer working are top of the notch and fairly up to date the current market.

I found out what the components or computer parts that I need by going to "HP PC Hardware Diagnostics" tool where I got all of the hardware specifications that I have currently installed as opposed to what I will be purchasing.

Thank you for the information.

Sincerely,

P.S. I would like to talk to you about other things, is there any possibility that I could private message and take like five minutes of your time for some general questions?
