Repeated problem with PC not talking to printer, I think.

New Printer

Brand new Canon Pixma TR8620a printer. I turn on printer power. I get a screen with 4 selections:  Copy, Scan, Fax, Print.  I select Print and get a screen with 4 selections:  From memory card, From cloud, Pattern paper, Templates.

I am trying to print a screen on my PC.  As far as I know, it is none of the above. 

I am looking at Canon IJ Printer Assistant Tool on my PC.  If I try to change something on the printer I get: “Check that the printer is connected to the PC and the power is on. “

The printer is on and there is a USB link.  Apparently the PC can’t see the printer.

I have tried 2-3 entries and keep getting the response “Check that the printer is connected to the PC and the power is on.“   I have installed the latest software for the printer.

My PC is a less-than-a-year-old HP 27” All-in-one running on Windows 11.  A month ago, having problems of a similar nature with a same-model printer, I took it to Micro Center repair and they gave it a through system check and found nothing wrong.

So, assuming that the problem is with the printer, I bought a new one.  Same problems.

The problem must be with the PC, but the old printer and PC worked fine together for 7-8 months. I may not have needed to replace the older printer. 

What next?

Those options are for you to print from other places, not from a computer

You need to install printer software to your machine from the CD which came with your printer FIRST. You can also download software and install from
