While typing, letters randomly repeat one or multiple times. Some characters are skipped. Brand new, out of the box behavior, wireless keyboard came with the PC, batteries are new and driver is up to date. Appears NOT to be application specific, but is worse on some websites than others. Show suggestions, multilingual text, and autocorrect are turned off.

Hi @togobalto,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing an issue with repeating characters while typing on your HP ENVY Desktop PC, it could be caused by various factors. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
- Check for Physical Obstructions: Make sure there's no debris, dust, or anything else obstructing the keys on your keyboard. Sometimes, particles can get lodged under the keys, causing them to register multiple presses.
- Restart Your Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can help resolve temporary glitches in the system.
- Update or Roll Back Keyboard Drivers: Outdated or incompatible keyboard drivers can cause typing issues. Try updating the drivers through the Device Manager. If the issue started after a driver update, consider rolling back to the previous version.
- Test with a Different Keyboard: If you have access to another keyboard, try connecting it to your HP ENVY Desktop PC and see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is with the keyboard itself.
- Check for Sticky Keys or Key Repeat Settings: On Windows, there are settings that control how the keyboard behaves. Navigate to the Control Panel or Settings and look for options related to Sticky Keys, Key Repeat Delay, and Key Repeat Rate. Adjust these settings to see if they affect the issue.
- Check for Malware or Background Software: Sometimes, malicious software or background processes can interfere with keyboard input. Run a full malware scan using your preferred antivirus software and make sure there are no unwanted background processes.
- Update System Software: Ensure that your operating system is up to date with the latest patches and updates. Sometimes, system updates can fix bugs that might be causing the keyboard issue.
- Check for Physical Damage: If the keyboard has been physically damaged, it might be causing the repeating characters. Check if any keys are stuck or not working as expected.
- Try a Different USB Port: If you're using a USB keyboard, try connecting it to a different USB port. Sometimes, faulty ports can cause issues.
- Perform a System Restore: If the issue started recently and you can pinpoint it to a certain software installation or update, you might consider performing a system restore to a point before the problem began.
- Hardware Diagnostics: Some HP computers have built-in hardware diagnostics tools that can help identify hardware issues. Check your computer's manual to see if this feature is available and how to use it.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
