HP Envy 795-0009na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I've got a new Envy 795 desktop machine with a built-in DVD Writerand I'd like to add a Blu-ray writer. I know I can add an external USB3 writer but I'd rather go without the extra clutter if I can take out the installed DVD Writer and just replace it. There doesn't appear to be an HP spare on sale for this against that product number.

Does anyone know if I can take any 3.5"  internal Blu-ray drive and remove its front cover to fit it in the 795, or is a specific type of optical drive needed for this kind of chassis?

Thanks for any clarification provided!

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I see that you need help in replacing DVD writer with Blu Ray writer.

To get the answer to this question, Yes you can install any Blu Ray drive. However, it should match the form factor of the DVD drive installed on the computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
